After searching for a braille necklace and not finding one I was pleased with at a price I was willing to pay, I decided to make my own. It's... whatever metal the dog tags from Things Remembered are made of, and I pounded it by hand with tools borrowed from a friend. The word is "hope". I wear it on a gold chain. If you look closely (maybe download the file - it's huge) you can see the cracks in the metal where it was pounded. Photo by ~theszerdi, cause I'm lame and I can't take a decent jewelry pic. Thanks!
It did take two tries to make, but I'm pleased with it now, and the only thing I was unhappy with is that I was unable to find a silver tag.
It looks good, and it'll be a talking-point if you're ever low on conversation. Are you fluent in Braille then, or did you just want a Braille necklace?

Thanks! It gets a lot of comments anyway; it does leave an opening for conversation. I am not fluent - I can read it (with my eyes, I've never touched braille besides this) very. slowly. but I don't get much practice because there's not much call for it... I just wanted a braille necklace!
Thank you so much! I would be happy to make more if other people wanted them, but I don't really have use for another. There are other shapes for the charm, too.
This necklace wasn't fashion; in fact, it gets plenty of weird looks ("are you blind?"). It was really personal for me. I'm not really sure why, because I could have had the word scripted on it for free, but I wanted to be able to touch it... I used to be conversational in sign language, too, but again, there's not much call for it, and I've forgotten. Perhaps someday I'll learn them again.

But yeah, some of my fashions are pretty far out.
